Twitterview With Author Nancy Straight Recap

Meeting Destiny (Destiny Series)

For anyone who doesn’t have a twitter and couldn’t attend Sunday’s twitterview with author Nancy Straight, I have recorded the whole conversation in this post. Notice all of the random questions? Yes, that’s what you get when I become involved in this kind of promotional effort. :D It was a really cool and extremely fun twitterview and I can’t wait to do more! Keep in mind that Nancy only had 140 characters to respond with because of twitter’s restrictions. For details about Nancy and her books, see also this post:

Enjoy and don’t forget to applaud Nancy for her bravery of being my first twitterviewee!

Me: Who are you?

Nancy: I’m 40 year old, rookie writer. Recently published 2 books,
Meeting Destiny and Destiny’s Revenge.

Me: When and why did you begin writing?

Nancy: Always enjoyed writing, wanted to see if I could actually
write a book. When I did friends liked it.

Me: What genre do you typically write?

Nancy: Both books are Young Adult Paranormal. The third in the
trilogy is written, in the editing process now, same genre.

Me: Can you give us a brief blurb about your favorite book?

Nancy: Blurb about Meeting Destiny: a couple looking for each other
for years, their destinies intersect.

Me: Where can readers go to buy your work? If you have a blog, can you link us there?

Nancy: Available at Amazon, B&N, Smashwords, Sony (ebooks
only). Blog: http://t.co/DjByOaPs

Me: What is your favorite part about your books?

Nancy: I try to incorporate humor whenever I can. Some of the
characters are quirky. Descriptions are detailed without over doing it. My
favorite part is feedback from people that read them!! Have gotten super
feedback!

Me: What have you done to promote your books?

Nancy: I got a FB account, a twitter account, started a blog, and
started talking to other authors like you!

Me: Of the above, what has been the most effective for you?

Nancy: For me, starting the blog on goodreads.com was the best. I’ve
met several readers and authors there.

Me: *Random* Do you think that book trailers work? Why?

Nancy: I’ve not tried them, I haven’t seen them used very often.

Me: Have you enjoyed your self-publishing experience thus far? Why?

Nancy: Yes!! The feedback from readers has been overwhelmingly
favorable. Other authors have given me SUPER advice. It’s a real thrill!

Me: What would you say to any self-publishing skeptics?

Nancy: Indie authors are a breed all their own. Their stories are
original, thought-provoking and a thrill.

Me: If you could have one person over for dinner, who would it be?

Nancy: I guess anyone with funny stories that likes to do dishes.
:)

Me: Is there anything you have learned from your self-publishing journey that you would like to share?

Nancy: You can never do too much editing! Have friends with really
good attention to detail help.

Me: *Random* Do you think Shakespeare is a fraud?

Nancy: Someone wrote the plays and sonnets, whether it was
Shakespeare I don’t know. Way before my time!

Me: Who is your favorite character out of all of your books? Why?

Nancy: Lauren is my favorite. She’s smart, independent, courageous
and tough. Everyone else gravitates to her.

Me: Any new books in the works?

Nancy: Destiny’s Wrath is the third and final in the trilogy. It
will be released in January.

Reader questions:

Me: Now taking reader questions for @NancyStraight! Please RT
and BE SURE TO USE THE HASHTAGE #INCESSANT!

Amazing viewer #1: What inspired the Destiny Series?

Nancy: Life inspired Meeting Destiny. Some people you run across
lots of times before you actually connect with them.

Amazing viewer #2: Do you plan the humor you write or does it come naturally from
your characters?

Nancy: I don’t plan it, but if a situation strikes me funny, I
usually expand on it.

Amazing viewer #3: What do you plan on writing next?

Nancy: I have another series in mind, but I haven’t begun writing
anything yet. That’ll be a project for 2012 :)

Amazing viewer #4: What do you like to do when you aren’t busy writing?

Nancy: Full time job, two kids, three dogs and an awesome husband.
Writing gets fit in when everything else is done.

My First Twitterview!

Meeting Destiny (Destiny Series)

Today, I bear good news. As you may or may not know, I have recently setup a promotional option on my blog known as twitterviews. Twitterviews are author interviews conducted live via Twitter. The fun part is that the author needs to make his or her response as concise and to the point as possible because he or she only has the 140 characters to reply with. This should be loads of fun – especially since you have the opportunity to watch the twitterview happen live and at the end the author will be open to questions.

So who is this mysterious author? Nancy Straight , YA paranormal author of “Meeting Destiny” and “Destiny’s Revenge.” Her twitter is @nancystraight so be sure to follow her if you’re on twitter. Here’s a more in-depth bio:

Image of Nancy Straight

Nancy was born in Sioux City Iowa, left the cold of the Midwest in 1991 and
only returns to see family in the summer time. She spent ten years traveling the
world as a US Marine and settled in rural South Carolina with her husband and
two children.

She enjoyes reading all types of Paranormal and Young Adult literature. She
is the author of two Young Adult Paranormal Romance books.

So, for now, be sure to check out her books and prepare your questions. If you aren’t on Twitter but have questions, leave them as a comment and I’ll definitely ask her during the twitteview and report back to you at the end. If you are on Twitter, however, I really hope that you’ll show up to support Nancy. The twitterview will begin this Sunday (the 6th of November) at 7 PM EST! Please mark your calenders, tweet about it and I’d really appreciate it if you guys came to watch. That would be awesome and your support is needed! How will the twitterview work? I will be asking Nancy a series of 10-12 questions, some standard questions, others personalized. Each tweet (my question and her answer) will have the hashtag #incessant (short for the title of the blog) so it will be easier for everyone to see the questions and answers; you only have to search #incessant on twitter when the twitterview begins. After the questions are over, I will ask for your questions. Your questions must also have the hashtage #incessant if you want them to be read and answered. This is a must! And that’s pretty much all. Simple enough, right? Any twitterers, I’ll say this again, please be there to show your support; Nancy and I would really appreciate it. And if you are feeling benevolent today, don’t forget to tweet about the event! I’ll add the ocassional reminder at the end of my upcoming posts, because I hope you all will attend! Thanks! And if you don’t have a twitter but would like your questions answered, drop me a line in the form of a comment and I’ll be sure to ask Nancy. Anyone planning on watching the twitterview?
