Morbid Mondays: Free eBook of the Week – Dust

Blurb:

A hungry alien substance has traveled to Earth following a doomed Lunar mission. No life form stands a chance, but Clyde Jackson is tougher than most. He’s seen war and he’s been in plenty of foxholes. Now he’s living through the end of the world one day at a time in a panic room that has become his only refuge.
Originally featured in The Absent Willow Review, “Dust” is the haunting meditation of a man recalling the final days of a once mighty and hopeful planet now quickly eroding to nothing under drifts of gray.

Why I Chose It:

First off, this book was a recommendation from an author friend of mine, Vincent Hobbes, an extremely talented horror author. If you don’t know him, I should tell you that if he likes something, it’s usually pretty darn good. And he loves this book. This book looks really intriguing – blurb and cover – and I am a fan of the horror genre so it’s right up my alley. In addition, it seems to have an interesting spin on things with the unique premise, and it has great reviews. Plus, it’s FREE! (I’ll be reading it ASAP.)

On an unrelated note, my poem told from the POV of a young boy during the Great Depression, “Crash”, has just gone live at Raphael’s Village! Plus, the editor (a multi-published author) gave me and my writing prowess high praise! Check it out if you have time and I’d love comment here about what you thought to further inflate my ego (just kidding, well, sorta.) Here it is!

Morbid Mondays: Free eBook of The Week – Dark Clouds

Blurb:

Matt always knew when his mother was about to arrive: the wind would swirl from every direction at once and dark clouds would mass in the sky. He and his pretty wife, Teri, try to get out of the way, but as the Witch’s Son, Matt is drawn into a spider’s web. And the cost for getting out of that web is paid in blood.

Why I Chose It:

I like Scott Bury. He has interviewed on this blog before and I have also read and reviewed one of his books here. His stories are very good and well-crafted, all with fun, thought-provoking plots. Because of that, this piece is on my to-read list. I am a developing horror fan and this book is one of those books that really has me intrigued. I can’t rave about the thousands of extraordinary reviews it has received for once because it is too new to have received any, but I will say that because of the intriguing plot, skilled author and of course BECAUSE IT’S FREE, this book is a must-read.

Morbid Mondays: Free eBook of the Week – Soul Identity

Blurb:

What if you could bank your money for your next life? Smart-aleck and computer security expert Scott Waverly is skeptical of his new client’s claim that they’ve been tracking souls for almost twenty-six hundred years. Is it a freaky cult, or a sophisticated con job? As Scott saves Soul Identity from an insider attack, he discovers the importance of the bridges connecting people’s lives.

Why I Chose It

Well, as you have probably figured out, I love thrillers. And this is a thriller. I’m always intrigued by books with a unique premise that seems to compel you to read it, and this book does just that. It’s currently the #3 bestseller on Smashwords under free thrillers and out of a whopping 18 reviews, it has a 4.78 average! That’s REALLY good! Plus, who has ever written a book with this sort of storyline? No one! And that’s why I HAVE to read this book. Anf guess what else? IT’S FREE!!!!
